Biography


Thomas Bijen

Thomas Bijen (1980) is a Dutch Artist with small roots but grand ambitions. He has lived and worked from his studio in Rotterdam, The Netherlands for the past ten years. In 2007, Thomas acquired his Master of Science in Industrial Design Engineering at the Technical University of Delft. Besides a diverse background in the creative technical sciences, the arts have always been his prime interest.

The label Thomasbijen.com is a collection of drawings using varying media. More recently, he has made his art live for the public through murals and large art objects. For Thomas, making art expresses his quest for mystery, playfulness, and innocence, through which he strives to recapture his childhood days.

Royal Chess

The art project ‘Royal Chess’, two kingsize chess pieces, welcomed the new King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima. During the summer of 2013, they were part of the more extensive exhibition “Ingehuldigd!” at the Nieuwe Kerk in Amsterdam.
